the night of old hat and first time
Thursday, June 26th, 2008seven words
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits.
these words kept flying thru my head yesterday — i was so pissed off all afternoon having heard of carlin’s departure. he was one of the first comedians i remember forcing me to laugh out loud.
i’m gonna have to think long and hard about how i eulogize him in my obits section…
i do have to recite a little ditty he etched into my brain as a kid:
rat shit, bat shit, dirt old twat
69 assholes tie it in a knot
horray, lizardshit, fuck!
of course, he left us with oh so many words…

emergency room
Monday, June 16th, 2008took a break from proposal writing to get kristin to the emergency room at 4am, after she couldn’t sleep. she was having so much sharp pain in her back and front that we couldn’t wait any longer to make sure she’s okay. it was scary. still is. really worried, i mean we’re talkin’ serious ulceriffic tendencies
here. like never being so worried about anyone before. bad case of
gas? kidney stones? infection? something more severe? who knows! after a pelvic exam, a morphine shot, and a prescription for pain killers later, we headed out into the sunrise to drop by the pharmacy, pick up meds and a few snacks.
got home at 7:30 in the morning, took a 2-hr nap, then back to work. when will this bad work trip end? i think i peaked a year ago, and it’s been a downhill fight without brakes ever since. maybe i should’ve been in that bed as well.
and all this for a one-in-a-hundred shot of $100k. i gotta get the focus back on kristin and not on this silly technology crap!
this on my sister’s 28th birthday. i hope she’s having a less stressful time! still hoping to get a good night’s sleep sometime — maybe on wednesday night…

musicknite
Thursday, June 5th, 2008musicknite, fly a kite! make a noise that sounds just right!
played music (bass) with chris (drums), caleb (keys), and bill (guitar) tonight. really enjoy the bass, but also had fun w/accordion to spice things up/add texture to our sound. unfortunately, a few amp issues took the guitar out of teh mix kinda early, so we were without… but bill was a good sport, playing some bass while i played accordion and filing in on congas otherwise.
and we had fun filling out hte forms and… playing with the pencils on the bench there… i was there for 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours… i was there for a long time… playing music.
good times. after bill took off and chris faded, i picked up the acoustic guitar and playeed thru a few of my guitar songs, then jammed out on a funk rhythm for a few minutes while caleb took it in 5 different groovy directions. a good time was had by all. or at least by me… good to hear someone take my songs and play them up. maybe i’m siply too tireless. or maybe i’m tiring… i should evaluate this before i run my mouth too much and hop between instruments too often. it takes playing a few songs/grooves thru before you really sink in on the instrument, so asking everyone to rotate isn’t necessarily the nicest thing in the world to do…
still looking forward to getting together with my bro greg soon to play some more songs thru. i only hope we can both make it up to ny at the same time in a few weeks.
we’ll meet again next week — if we can keep momentum and pick up another amp i think we’ll be in good shape. and then i can play some loud guitar! hmm… economic stimulus = excuse to buy electric guitar? dunno, but i WILL get one before i turn 34, dang it.
