laptop scare
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008so, many of my projects (at least the ability to make small progress one day at a time) rely upon my trusty li’l 12″ powerbook g4, the old one with the titanium shell and the 4 hour battery life (2 yrs into my 2nd battery, this is still the case!).
last night, my box died in a big way. shut off unexpectedly and wouldn’t come back on. bad news. took forever for me to get it back up. then i put it to sleep overnight and expected it to come back to life. no dice. i s’pose i should’ve figured this would happen.
ugh. i back up the most important files, but i have data files i don’t wanna lose.
anyhoo, long story short, walked/bused to the apple store today and after an hour’s wait next door at the steeping room (tasty tea and scones), i was shown how the airport card, when loose, causes all kinds of kernel panics in osx.
good to know. hope this doesn’t mean i’ll soon need a new laptop. maybe someday, but not today.

and thanks chris for picking me up from there so we could play music. good time — first time w/guitar/drums rather than bass/drums. looking forward to more.
