1995: sighs
sighs is a collection of poems facing the issues of separation from family, the reverse culture shock of returning to the U.S. from three formative years in Germany, and my grandfather’s passing.
These poems helped fulfill the course requirements for Michael Fallon’s Fall 1994 poetry course at UMBC. I bound the results up and distributed a few copies around campus. These were the days I would wander the engineering and fine art buildings into the wee hours, scribbling slogans and other dribble on the brick walls using unused chalk from classrooms.
